Letters of Invitation - International Harm Reduction Association

Residents from certain countries outside of the European Union may require an official letter of invitation in order to obtain a visa to attend the conference. This letter can be requested directly from the online registration system. In order to produce a letter, the online registration system will require additional passport information (such as passport number, date of issue and date of expiry).

Please make sure that the delegate name that you register under is entered exactly as it is in the passport.

Visa invitation letters will be issued from 1st December 2007 up to (and no later than) 1st May 2008. Letters will be issued and sent via via priority mail within five business days of the request, so please allow sufficient time for delivery. No express, courier or special deliveries will be made for these letters, unless the delegate fully arranges and pays for the delivery.

For delegates who require an entry visa, please allow enough time for the application process. Consulates recommend that you allow
at least 12-14 weeks processing time prior to the conference (although this process may take longer in certain countries, so we suggest that you contact your nearest Spanish embassy or consulate as soon as possible). Furthermore, based on previous conference experiences, we strongly recommend that delegates bring a copy of their letter of invitation with them when flying to Spain for the conference.

The letter of invitation does not financially obligate the conference organisers in any way. All expenses incurred in relation to the conference are the sole responsibility of the delegate. To receive a letter of invitation, delegates must first register for the conference.

If proof is shown that a visa could not be granted in the country of origin, the full registration fee will be refunded. Please see the
Conference Cancellation Policy for further details.

Further information will be available on the website about five months prior to the conference.
