Travel & Hotels - Liverpool

Situated on the north bank of the River Mersey, Liverpool has a history dating back over 800 years. The city was built on shipping and trade, which has resulted in a diverse cultural mix of populations and communities. It boasts two universities, two cathedrals, two football teams, and a range of other cultural activities and places of interest.

Liverpool has experienced a series of major renovations in the past decade and was the ‘European Capital of Culture’ in 2008, which has created world-class shopping and entertainment facilities, all located within walking distance of the conference venue.

Travel to Liverpool
The city has good road and rail links with the whole of the United Kingdom and is served by a regular express rail service from London Euston Station (journey time: approximately two and a half hours).

Liverpool John Lennon Airport is just seven miles from the city centre, and there are regular scheduled direct flights from across Europe (including Belfast, Dublin, Alicante, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Geneva, Madrid, Nice, Paris, Prague, Stockholm, Turin and Warsaw), and connecting flights to the rest of the world. A number of airlines fly to Liverpool, including EasyJet, FlyBe, KLM, Ryanair, Wizz and Eastern Airways. There is a low cost bus service – the Airlink 500 – which will take you into the city centre once every 30 minutes, and taxis are also available (a taxi journey should cost approximately £20).

Manchester Airport offers an alternative international gateway from all parts of the world. There are also regular shuttle flights into Manchester from the major airports in London – including Gatwick Airport and Heathrow Airport. Once you arrive at the airport, there is a rail link directly into Liverpool – which takes approximately one and a half hours – and taxis are also available.
