IHRA has had a major influence on global drug policy, and has helped put harm reduction firmly on the public health agenda. It is fair to say that IHRA has saved some lives and helped to secure some human rights. But there is much more to be done, and IHRA urgently needs the help of its members and donors.

IHRA is the only international organisation promoting harm reduction on a global basis. But IHRA needs help to grow. With your support IHRA will be able to:

  • continue our global advocacy for harm reduction
  • campaign on specific harm reduction issues (eg on prisons, HCV treatment, substitution treatment, overdose, alcohol, human rights)
  • add key harm reduction articles to our website, and translate them into various languages
  • hold regional harm reduction conferences in developing and transitional countries
  • offer technical advice on harm reduction to governments and NGOs

IHRA has members in over 70 countries. Members include front-line workers, policy makers, affected populations, health professionals, criminal justice professionals, educators and researchers throughout the world.
