Governance

Harm Reduction International is the trading name of the International Harm Reduction Association (IHRA).

The International Harm Reduction Association is an international, not-for-profit NGO and a company limited by guarantee in accordance with company law in England and Wales (Company number – 3223265). It is also a registered UK charity (Charity Number – 1117375).

A summary of our governance and activities will be found in the introduction to the most recent Audited Financial Accounts. We are governed by a Board of Directors, which comprises all of the Directors and any co-opted members. The Board meets approximately four times a year. The formal document establishing the International Harm Reduction Association in 1996 includes details of the aims, objectives and powers of the association in accordance with company law in England and Wales. This document was updated in 2010.

As a company limited by guarantee, there are certain rules and regulations governing how the International Harm Reduction Association operates, which are set out in the Articles of Association (which were revised 2010) and the Conflicts of Interest Policy.

Financial Documents

The International Harm Reduction Association submits annual financial accounts as required under company law in England and Wales. Our income in generates from membership fees, donations (personal and corporate), national and international donor agencies, private foundations and trusts and conferences.

Annual General Meeting

The International Harm Reduction Association holds an General Meeting of members each year.
