Amritpal Singh, a supporter of Khalistan, along with three associates, has filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking permission to meet their lawyer. The plea, filed by Amritpal Singh, Harjit Singh, Sarabjit Kalsi, and Virender Singh, aims to set aside the July 6 order of the Amritsar Deputy Commissioner, which prohibited them from consulting their lawyer for their defence. The petition states that criminal cases, in addition to the National Security Act, have been registered against them, and they should be allowed to consult their lawyer to present their case. The hearing for the petition has been scheduled for this week after being filed on Monday. The High Court has directed the Deputy Commissioner to make decisions accordingly while disposing of the petition.
