Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), the popular battle royale game, has recently launched its highly anticipated 2.8 update. This update brings an exciting new game mode called “Zombie’s Edge,” which adds a thrilling zombie-themed experience to the game. Available for free download on Android and iOS, the update unlocks the mode on the Erangel, Livik, and Miramar maps.
The action takes place in the Aerolith Lab and its surrounding areas, which serve as the hotspot during the event. Players will encounter hordes of “mutants” to eliminate, along with more challenging Berserker and Ripper variants. The Berserker is a muscular creature with a transforming arm that switches between a sharp blade and an armored fist. On the other hand, the Ripper is a slender and agile enemy that excels at close-range slash attacks.
It’s worth noting that Zombie’s Edge is the same game mode introduced in the international version of PUBG Mobile last month. While it’s unclear if any changes have been made for the India-exclusive BGMI, the patch notes suggest that the mode remains unchanged.
Update 2.8 also introduces Mutation Gauntlets, which players can equip to enhance their gameplay significantly. These gauntlets offer powerful abilities, such as a slam attack that can eliminate zombies with a single blow. Additionally, there is a Great Smash moveset that resembles Doomfist’s ultimate ability from Overwatch 2. When activated, players leap into the air, choose a landing point, and unleash a devastating area-of-effect (AOE) attack. The gauntlet also has a Ripper version, which adds a dash move and the ability to perform slashes.

All of these new features tie into the core of the infection, the Aerolith Lab. This towering organism absorbs the undead to grow stronger. Once the absorption process is complete, it spawns a formidable mutant called the “Rage” Berserker. Defeating this powerful enemy rewards players with a plethora of loot. In addition to the Zombie’s Edge mode, the 2.8 update also introduces the Maglev Hoverboard, a versatile vehicle that allows fast traversal across both land and water. Players can now explore the game’s environments with increased speed and efficiency. The update also brings a festive touch with the “Halloweeks” update, featuring carved pumpkins, disco lights, and dancing mutants. For those unfamiliar with BGMI, the game was launched in response to the ban on PUBG Mobile by the Indian government due to privacy and security concerns. BGMI was recently unbanned in May after a 10-month hiatus. To address concerns, developer Krafton implemented measures such as limiting gameplay hours and introducing a parental verification system for in-game purchases.
The game’s re-launch also introduced the new Nusa map, a tropical zone filled with ziplines and a Super Recall feature that allows players to bring back their fallen teammates. While BGMI received a three-month “trial approval” from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), it remains unclear if the ban has been completely lifted.
With the introduction of the Zombie’s Edge mode and other exciting features in the 2.8 update, BGMI continues to captivate players with its immersive gameplay and thrilling challenges.
Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game, this update offers a fresh and engaging experience that is sure to keep you entertained for hours on end. So, gear up, sharpen your skills, and dive into the action-packed world of BGMI’s latest update!
