The National Highway Authority of India has been allotted the task of constructing a direct link through an underpass between Sector 12, 12A and Sector 20, 21 in Panchkula. However, before the construction of the underpass can begin, the utilities such as drinking water, sewerage, drainage pipelines, and electric poles need to be shifted. This work is currently underway.
Once the underpass is constructed, commuting to Sector 20, 21, and Zirakpur will become much easier. In addition, the construction of a flyover between Sector 12A and 20 is already underway, with a target to complete the work by the end of this year. The completion of both projects will significantly reduce the day-long traffic jams that occur at light points under the flyover between Sector 12A and 20. For the last 12-14 years, people have faced difficulties commuting due to the long traffic jams during peak hours.
The state government is funding 25 percent of the project, while the remaining funds will be provided by NHAI.
