Punjab: Vigilance arrests Patwari taking bribe of ₹ 20 thousand in Barnala

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has caught a Patwari red-handed while taking a bribe. The accused, Jatinder Singh, who is a Patwari of Halka Handiyaya C of Goods Department, was caught taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a farmer. The team, led by Vigilance Bureau Inspector Gurmail Singh, arrested him on the spot.
According to the complaint filed by Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Barnala, he had approached Patwari Jatinder Singh to get his land measuring about 9 kanals executed. However, the Patwari demanded a bribe in addition to the government fees to get the work done after a few days. Jaswinder Singh then approached the Vigilance Bureau and filed a complaint against the Patwari. Inspector Gurmel Singh stated that a case has been registered against the accused Patwari under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The accused will be produced in court, and further investigation is underway.
