Realme teases latest smartphone with periscope camera

Realme, the popular smartphone manufacturer, has recently hinted at the return of the periscope telephoto camera on its upcoming devices. The company had previously incorporated a periscope telephoto camera in one of its smartphones back in 2020, but since then, it hadn’t launched any devices with a regular telephoto or periscope telephoto unit. However, a recent image posted by Realme on social media suggests that they are bringing back this feature.

The image shared by Realme showcases a circular camera island with two circles and one rectangle. It is speculated that the two circles represent the primary and ultrawide cameras, while the rectangle indicates the presence of a periscope telephoto camera. Realme has not provided any specific details about the camera or the phone itself, but they did take a playful jab at the recently announced Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max. Realme’s caption accompanying the image reads, “Not only Max can zoom,” referring to the iPhone’s 12MP periscope telephoto unit with 5x optical zoom, which marks Apple’s first inclusion of a periscope camera in their lineup.

Regarding the device in question, it is rumored to be the Realme GT5 Pro. This smartphone is expected to feature the yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which promises powerful performance. Additionally, it is rumored to come equipped with a 64MP telephoto camera, specifically the OmniVision OV64B sensor. While these details are still speculative, it is likely that Realme will provide more information about the device in the coming weeks.
The return of the periscope telephoto camera in Realme’s smartphones is an exciting development for photography enthusiasts. This technology allows for enhanced zoom capabilities, enabling users to capture detailed shots even from a distance. With Realme’s commitment to providing innovative features at competitive prices, it is expected that their upcoming device will offer an impressive camera experience.

As we await further updates from Realme, it is clear that the company is focused on delivering cutting-edge technology and pushing the boundaries of smartphone photography. The reintroduction of the periscope telephoto camera is a testament to their dedication to providing users with versatile and high-quality camera systems.
