T20 League: Smriti Mandhana’s half-century in the first match of The Hundred

In the opening match of The Hundred, held in Nottingham, Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana showcased her brilliance by scoring a half-century. Mandhana’s impressive knock of 55 runs came off just 36 balls, providing a solid foundation for her team, the Southern Braves. Her innings included some exquisite shots and displayed her skill and ability as a top-class batter.
The Southern Braves, with contributions from Mandhana and other players, managed to post a competitive total of 157/6 on the scoreboard. Alongside Mandhana, Maiya also played a quickfire innings, scoring 31 runs off just 18 balls. Their partnership and aggressive batting helped the team set a challenging target for their opponents, the Trent Rockets.
However, the Trent Rockets struggled in their chase and could only muster a total of 130/7 within the stipulated number of balls. Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt was the highest scorer for the Rockets, accumulating 49 runs. Despite Sciver-Brunt’s efforts, the team fell short of the target set by the Southern Braves.
