Total 4700 crores earnings from Women’s World Cup, 19 times more than last time

The 9th edition of the Women’s FIFA World Cup has garnered significant attention and support from fans, resulting in record-breaking revenue. According to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the tournament has generated an impressive $570 million (approximately Rs 4738 crore) in revenue. This figure is a staggering 19 times higher than the revenue generated during the 2019 Women’s World Cup, which amounted to only $30 million (about Rs 250 crore).
The upcoming 2023 season is set to build on this success, as FIFA plans to increase the number of teams from 24 to 32 and triple the prize money. Despite these expansions, the tournament is already experiencing a record-breaking profit. As a result, the Women’s World Cup 2023 has now become the second-highest revenue-generating sports event.
This remarkable growth in revenue highlights the increasing popularity and commercial viability of women’s football. It is a testament to the growing interest and support for women’s sports globally. The success of the Women’s World Cup not only showcases the talent and skill of female athletes but also provides a platform for gender equality and empowerment in the world of sports.
